<![CDATA[The Custom Jewelry Find - Blog]]>Tue, 15 Mar 2016 03:31:22 -0400Weebly<![CDATA[Shifting Gears at The Custom Jewelry Find]]>Mon, 14 Mar 2016 00:28:20 GMThttp://www.thecustomjewelryfind.com/blog/shifting-gears-at-the-custom-jewelry-find2016 will be a year of change for our family and the business. With Matt getting out of the Army in December to start a new career, Sarah is taking online classes and shifting the scope of TCJF. We will continue taking custom orders, teaching classes, and doing parties by request.

Our goal this year is to liquidate TCJF inventory of finished jewelry, clothing and accessories. Good news for us - less to move, and great news for you - super deals! (Up to 30% off jewelry and 50% off clothing/accessories!) Check out our Facebook page for sale listings. When they're gone, they're gone!

It's hard to believe that we started this adventure over 3 years ago! We are incredibly grateful for the amazing people we have met and the endless support we've been blessed to receive. Thank YOU. TCJF may be going under the radar for a bit, but will always be around, and we look forward to staying in touch.

xoxox - Sarah & Matt

<![CDATA[TCJF's First Mommy and Me Jewelry Class!]]>Wed, 15 Jul 2015 00:22:17 GMThttp://www.thecustomjewelryfind.com/blog/tcjfs-first-mommy-and-me-jewelry-class
There is something magical (and usually chaotic!) that happens when you let kids do their own thing - especially when it involves creativity. After a quick intro and description of what they'd be doing today, the girls were let loose. What a GREAT job they did (and a couple mommies) designing and making their own bracelets. The pride the girls had in their finished pieces and their smiles were priceless.

Thank you Megan for inviting The Custom Jewelry Find to be part of your your Mommy and me playdate today. It was a total pleasure to meet and work with everyone!!

<![CDATA[Need A Little Spice In Your Jewelry?]]>Fri, 10 Apr 2015 15:15:39 GMThttp://www.thecustomjewelryfind.com/blog/need-a-little-spice-in-your-jewelry
People who know me, know I LOVE my food and cooking, so when I found these old spice jars (with rotating rack!) at The Painted Mill - I knew right away their new calling in life. And yes, the seed beads match the spice on the lid whenever possible!

Today's spice blend is a dash of celery salt and a pinch of mustard seed among other things for earrings to go with the new wooden necklace pictured. Can't wait to deliver this set and a couple other new designs for sale first at Coco Leigh Hair Boutique. If you haven't been to either of these local businesses, you need to, and soon!

Thanks for reading and keeping up with TCJF. Enjoy your weekend, especially with the gorgeous weather forecast!!

<![CDATA[A Story Told Through Jewelry ~ Mother-Daughter Charm Necklaces]]>Fri, 03 Apr 2015 16:07:32 GMThttp://www.thecustomjewelryfind.com/blog/a-story-told-through-jewelry-mother-daughter-charm-necklacesTo help celebrate a very special occasion, a mother asked me to create charm necklaces for her daughter and herself. She booked TCJF for a private jewelry design party. I packed up beads in all colors, specific charms I had ordered per request along with dozens of other charms and chains.

They are a remarkable, loving tag team that have traveled the world doing missionary work. These necklaces tell their story and are to celebrate her daughter's Adoption Day. <3 This is another reason why I love my job, it's about so much more than just jewelry. Thank you ladies for welcoming me into your home and allowing me the opportunity to make these special necklaces. Below the photo gallery is why specific charms and colors were used.
All custom jewelry tells a story and for this mother, daughter team their necklaces tell a rich story, filled with love and mutual respect. They've traveled through the Middle East where gold tones are always worn with blues to protect against the evil eye. Blue beads also remind them of Haiti, where she adopted her daughter. Orange is a favorite color. The pyramid, mother/daughter, palm tree, compass, Africa, tree, bible, fish and dolphin charms represent their unique story, their passions and their travels.

<![CDATA[Chaos,Organization, Jewelry and (more) Dust - Reflectios]]>Mon, 30 Mar 2015 14:00:33 GMThttp://www.thecustomjewelryfind.com/blog/chaosorganization-jewelry-and-more-dust-reflectiosEvery month getting ready for The Painted Mill, it's this crazy cycle.... our (NEW) booth space goes from chaos (worse this month than usual lol) to clean, polished and complete....while at the same time, my house slowly slips deeper into piles of laundry, dirty dishes, kid crap, random stacks of papers desperately trying to stay out of the trash, more dust and general disarray everywhere. You'll get an idea in the pictures.

Well, we survived (barely, ha!) and I'm happy to report on Saturday laundry was done, dust trails gone, workstation mostly organized, living room, kitchen and counters reclaimed for family usage and more sleep had by all!!! TCJF had a fantastic weekend at The Painted Mill and everything worked out like it magically does. Couldn't have done it without my family's support and our customers for keeping it local and shopping with us this weekend.....THANK YOU!

<![CDATA[Juggling Tonight - Mom and Biz Owner]]>Fri, 13 Mar 2015 02:03:18 GMThttp://www.thecustomjewelryfind.com/blog/juggling-tonight-mom-and-biz-ownerIs it bad my kids just now are in bed (almost 2 hrs later than normal), because I was having too much fun and didn't want to leave my networking meeting tonight? Matt has his monthly brew master meeting, which often overlaps with my Harford County Small Business meeting - aka Grace and Henry ride with me.

The meeting is laid-back, we meet at Panera, and my kids know the drill. I look at it like a field trip, they get bribed with food, can listen to us talk about our businesses, strategies, marketing, upcoming events - so it's enriching right? And the cookie at the end to reward them for mostly very good behavior - sugar right before bedtime.... so smart.

But all in all, it worked out - only one glass of water spilled, nothing broken, had a very productive meeting and kids finished homework! Soooo, yeah - I'm going with do what you need to do and hooray for children being flexible, mostly!

Feel free to share your parenting juggling stories - successes and fails. I've had many of both!

Pleasant dreams,
Sarah
